Senior Student Highlight: Vann SovanPanha

Vann SovanPanha  (Academic Year 2025-2026) – Life Goes On

Favorite Quote: ” “What’s past is prologue” – William Shakespeare

An interesting fact about Panha is that she still hasn’t had her ears pierced, and she has a strong obsession with anything black sesame–flavored.

Her favorite subject is Math because it is something she grew up doing with her dad. She spent much of her childhood sitting with him and solving math problems together. Sometimes he knew exactly how to explain the solutions, and other times they figured them out together. Those moments made math feel fun, challenging, and meaningful. Over time, it became more than just a subject, it became something that brought her and her dad closer, which is why she loves it so much.

The most challenging assignment for her has been the Research Capstone. Her topic focuses on the environmental effects on nurses’ mental health, and although it is an important issue, it has been difficult to find strong and reliable sources to support her ideas. While there are many general statements about the topic, there is limited detailed research she can use. Because of this, the project requires extensive reading, research, and cross-checking, making it particularly challenging. She believes Chemistry will prepare her the most for life after high school since she plans to study Nursing. Even though it can be difficult, she knows it will give her a strong foundation for the medical field she hopes to enter.

Outside of school, Panha usually goes home and cooks for her family, which she genuinely enjoys. She likes trying new recipes and experimenting with different dishes. Cooking has become a relaxing break for her, the calm hour between returning home from school and starting her homework. One of her most memorable moments at AUPPHS-FA was performing the traditional blessing dance at the seniors’ graduation ceremony. Standing on stage and seeing the graduating students made her imagine what her own life might look like in a year, which was both exciting and inspiring. Preparing for the performance was hectic but also very fun. She and her friends stayed after school during finals week to practice, and all their hard work paid off with a performance she will never forget.

After graduating from AUPPHS-FA, Panha plans to move to Australia, complete her nursing degree, and then focus on living life to the fullest while traveling the world. Her advice to juniors at AUPPHS-FA: “Do not rush your work but always leave some time to double-check your answers, it can make a big difference.”
