Senior Student Highlight: Try Kimsour

Try Kimsour  (Academic Year 2025-2026) –  Amity, metanoia, and wearying

Favorite Quote:  “Let everything happen to you: beauty and terror. Just keep going. No feeling is final.”- Rainer Maria Rilke’s piece, tr. Joanna Macy & Anita Barrows

An interesting fact about Kimsour is that she enjoys watching sunrises and likes spending her weekends relaxing and being lazy.

Her favorite subject is English because it gives her the opportunity to share her thoughts and opinions about what she interprets from the lessons. It also helps her express her feelings, and the class has a very relaxed and positive atmosphere. The most challenging assignments for her have been Research projects, as she initially underestimated how demanding they could be, especially when it comes to formatting and precision. Through the process, she learned how to adapt and overcome those challenges. She believes Microeconomics and Macroeconomics will prepare her the most for life after high school because she plans to pursue a career in that field.

Outside of school, Kimsour was a member of the volleyball team and served as the president of the Athletes Media Club, where she helped organize and share updates about sports matches and highlights on social media. She has also participated in many marathons, although, as she jokes, she runs them slowly.

One of her most memorable moments at AUPPHS-FA was during Calculus class, laughing and joking with her friends until her stomach hurt while trying to work through assignments together. Another favorite memory was trying snacks from different countries that classmates brought back after holidays.

After graduating from AUPPHS-FA, Kimsour plans to continue her education by earning both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees, working hard until she can retire her mom and achieve financial freedom. Her advice to juniors at AUPPHS-FA: “Just make it exist first. You can make it good later.”
