Sovannphoum Nay (Academic Year 2024-2025) – Challenging, fun, panic.
Favorite Quote: “With great power comes great responsibility” – Stan Lee
An interesting fact about Sovannphoum is that he enjoys building Legos, reading comic books, and cycling during his free time. He also likes to try new hobbies once in a while.
His favorite subject is English because he gets to read various articles about the past, present, and future expectations of the world—not to mention the exciting stories. He finds it fun to imagine how different the world could be based on different narratives.
The most challenging subject for him is Research Capstone since it requires a lot of time and focus in gathering information. He also tends to struggle with planning out his essays, so it serves as good practice for the future. He believes Research Capstone has prepared him the most for life after AUPPHS-FA because it teaches discipline, the importance of meeting deadlines, and how to handle essay-based assignments in college.
Reflecting on his time at AUPPHS-FA, Sovannphoum has participated in many school club activities, including badminton, football, and the newsletter club, where he mainly does interviews. In early December last year, he also joined a charity marathon. His favorite memories at AUPPHS-FA include cramming for exams and quizzes with friends, going on field trips, and doing community service while meeting new people.
After graduation, Sovannphoum dreams of moving to New Zealand, becoming filthy rich, and spending his free time either traveling or fishing—maybe even getting a cat.
As a final piece of advice for his juniors, he says: “Don’t rush it, take your time. Everyone has their own pace. Focus on yourself and your goals.”
