Senior Student Highlight: Soeun Sokhomrothavatanak

Soeun Sokhomrothavatanak (Academic Year 2025-2026) – Bittersweet, eventful, and stressful.
Favorite Quote: “Pain is just weakness leaving the body, and if you ain’t achin’, it ain’t workin’. Know your limits and defy them daily because you don’t stop when you’re tired – you stop when you’re done.” – Jim Crunch.

An interesting fact about Sokhomrothavatanak is that he loves TV shows and movies that involve strategic planning, especially heist stories. He also once dreamed of becoming a football star, although that path didn’t quite align with his future career goals. On top of that, he enjoys cooking and baking, finding creativity and satisfaction in the process.

He enjoys Mathematics because it requires strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills. Solving mathematical problems and puzzles feels exciting and rewarding, especially when you’re passionate about it. Research Studies/Capstone Research was the most challenging for him, as it tested his reading skills and long-term commitment to completing complex tasks. Although the process felt overwhelming at times, it helped him develop discipline and perseverance. He believes Calculus, Economics, and Research will best prepare him for life after high school and support his future career goals.

Outside of academics, Sokhomrothavatanak has been very active in sports, including football, volleyball, swimming, tennis, and running. He has also participated in several charity events. His favorite memories at AUPPHS-FA include collaborating on group projects, participating in the STEAM Expo, attending prom, and going on class field trips.

After graduating from AUPPHS-FA, he plans to pursue his goals and contribute positively to the world, starting with making Cambodia a better place. His advice to juniors at AUPPHS-FA is: “Take responsibility for your actions, as your habits shape your future. Always complete your work on time and stay honest, avoid cheating, because the consequences appear later in life. Be confident and make decisive choices so you don’t grow up wishing you had taken more chances. Most importantly, cherish the people you love, especially your family, before time reminds you of their true value.”
