Senior Student Highlight: Sethpanharithy Hong

Sethpanharithy Hong (Academic Year 2024-2025) – Stress, memories, caffeine.
Favorite Quote: “Live boldly. Regret nothing.”

An interesting fact about Sethpanharithy is that he loves pushing himself out of his comfort zone—whether it’s adapting to new environments or tackling unexpected challenges. He also enjoys playing the guitar, has reached Master Guardian in CS:GO, and proudly admits: “I’m a coffee addict.”

His favorite subjects are AP Statistics, AP Microeconomics, and AP Macroeconomics because they deal with real-world issues and offer practical insights into how systems operate. He enjoys learning concepts that apply beyond the classroom—from analyzing data trends to understanding economic decision-making.

He believes AP Micro and Macroeconomics are especially valuable, offering a foundational understanding of how the world revolves around money: how banks operate, how governments maintain the economy, and more. Learning this early boosts financial literacy—a skill everyone needs. “The world runs on money. It’s best to understand how it moves.”

During his time at AUPPHS-FA, Sethpanharithy participated in Model United Nations (MUN), which became a core part of his high school journey. It strengthened his public speaking, negotiation, and critical thinking skills while deepening his global awareness.

Some of his favorite memories include classroom moments with peers and teachers, along with extracurriculars like MUN, STEAM Expo, and festive school events like Khmer New Year and Christmas celebrations.

After graduation, he plans to study abroad in Australia, major in Psychological Science, and—of course—continue his caffeine addiction.

His advice to juniors at AUPPHS-FA: “You can’t always get what you want. Also if you want to get good grades, just get 1 coffee and 2 redbull, works everytime.”
