Jutimun Thorn (Academic Year 2024-2025) – Challenging, fun, and memorable.
Favorite Quote: “I spent 113,880 hours of my life for a piece of paper and a handshake.”
A fun fact about Jutimun is that he considers himself a professional napper, always on the lookout for the perfect moment to catch some Z’s. His passion for traveling and exploration fuels his adventures, as he loves discovering new places and cultures. He enjoys night rides on his motorbike, relishing the feeling of the wind against his face as he navigates the open road. In his downtime, he immerses himself in music and gaming, which allow him to unwind and escape into different worlds. He also has a fondness for storybooks that transport him into imaginative realms, adding another layer to his diverse interests.
His favorite subjects at AUPPHS-FA are Statistics and Microeconomics, as he appreciates their engaging teaching styles. His most challenging assignments were AP exams in Statistics, Microeconomics, and Chemistry, each presenting unique difficulties due to complex theories, data analysis, and intricate formulas. Learning to balance study time while handling the pressure to perform well was tough, but ultimately, it taught him valuable time management and resilience skills. He believes Microeconomics and English will be the most useful subjects after high school, as they will prepare him for his college major and help refine his skills.
Jutimun has been actively involved in various extracurricular activities. He has played multiple sports, including football, badminton, basketball, swimming, cycling, ice skating, and even golf, which have kept him active and taught him teamwork. Beyond sports, he also helps with his parents’ business and runs his own ventures, gaining valuable entrepreneurial experience. He has dedicated time to community service and has also explored guitar and coding.
One of his favorite memories at AUPPHS-FA was celebrating Khmer New Year. He recalls the joy of celebrating in the large school facility, where there was so much excitement. Everyone joined in the fun, splashing water at each other, laughing, and embracing the playful spirit of the holiday. The joyful atmosphere, delicious food, and time spent with friends made it an unforgettable experience—one he will always cherish.
After graduation, Jutimun plans to start university and work for a few months while waiting for his studies to begin. His advice to juniors: “to always be happy and have fun, especially during your last year of high school. This time is unique and special, and you won’t get to experience it again. It’s important to enjoy the moments, make memories with friends, and embrace the joy of being together. Don’t stress too much about the future; instead, focus on the present and make the most of this amazing time in your life. Cherish the laughter, the events, and the friendships, because these will be the moments you look back on fondly in the years to come.”
