Senior Student Highlight: Hok Yiwen

Hok Yiwen (Academic Year 2025-2026) – Memorable, stressful, and bittersweet
Favorite Quote: It doesn’t matter what others think of you. what truly matters is how you see yourself. Finding who you are is the important because that’s who you’re spending the rest of your life with, be unique, and build confidence that makes you feel valued and special is what truly counts.

An interesting fact about Yiwen is that she loves traveling new cities, new food, and new views. It’s her favorite way to feel alive. If someone tells her about a cool destination, she’ll probably be looking up flights within the next five minutes.

The most challenging subject for her is AP Chemistry, as it involves advanced math, abstract concepts, and intense problem-solving. Despite the difficulty, she believes AP Chemistry will prepare her well for life after high school, especially since she plans to major in Food Science and Technology.

Outside of school, Yiwen participated in an exchange program in Fukuoka, Japan, which became one of her most meaningful experiences. Some of the moments she’ll always treasure at AUPPHS-FA are the class field trips, where learning extended beyond the classroom.

After graduation, she plans to continue exploring the world through travel. Her advice to juniors at AUPPHS-FA: “You can’t fix a problem you’re busy protecting.”
