Heng Panha Vatey (Academic Year 2025-2026) – Learning, bonding, achieving
Favorite Quote: “Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing.” -Pelé
An interesting fact about Vatey is that she plays basketball for both her school team and an outside team. She has also helped organize STEM competitions, showing her strong passion for both athletics and academics.
She loves AP Calculus for the challenge and the satisfaction of solving complex problems, especially since she excels in Math more than other subjects. She also enjoys Physical Education because it keeps her active and allows her to have fun with her teammates. The most challenging project for her has been the Capstone Research project, as it pushes her to think critically, stay organized, and work independently. She believes AP Calculus prepares her well for life after high school by strengthening her problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Outside of the classroom, Vatey continues to play basketball for both her school and an outside team, where she has learned the importance of teamwork and discipline. She has also helped organize STEM competitions, run several 10-kilometer marathons, and consistently participated in Math, Science, and English competitions. These experiences have helped her develop leadership, perseverance, and strong problem-solving skills. Some of her most treasured memories at AUPPHS-FA are the quiet, everyday moments with her friends—studying together, cheering each other on, and turning ordinary days into unforgettable ones. Whether celebrating a win on the court or supporting each other during stressful exams, her teammates and friends made her senior year truly memorable.
After graduation, she plans to continue her studies at university, focusing on subjects that challenge her and prepare her for a future career in data analytics. She also hopes to remain involved in research, competitions, and sports while gaining experiences that help her grow both academically and personally.
Her advice to juniors at AUPPHS-FA: “Embrace challenges and never be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Whether in academics, sports, or extracurricular activities, pushing yourself, staying disciplined, and learning from both successes and failures will help you grow and prepare for the future.”
