Senior Student Highlight: Dy Sanniya

Dy Sanniya (Academic Year 2025-2026) – Stressful, Eventful, Unconventional
Favorite Quote: “You don’t have to belabor it and polish the door knob so long that you forget to open the door.” – Taylor Swift

An interesting fact about Sanniya is that despite being unskilled at traditional art (drawing), she loves arts and crafts. She especially enjoys making her own custom pieces through hobbies such as crochet, design (including digital graphic design and digital interior design of house/apartment models), embroidery, and more.

She enjoys Economics and Math because she has always excelled in them without needing to exert much effort. However, she always gives them her all, which best demonstrates her effort and dedication to proving her worth (even when it is unnecessary). The most challenging assignment for her is every presentation, because she struggles immensely with stage fright and public speaking. Speaking for a long time to a big audience (even if it’s just her class) forces her to confront her fears in the most direct way possible.

She believes Economics and Math prepare her most for her life after high school. Aside from being her favorite subjects, she has chosen her university major of Marketing and Business Law because of her capabilities in these subjects. Therefore, doing well in them now will help her greatly during her time in university, as well as in her daily life.

Outside of academics, Sanniya has a job within a family business. Despite her job and schoolwork, she still enjoys hobbies such as watching films and shows, reading, crochet, volleyball, and making her own custom things (from clay, paper, and more).

Her favorite memory at AUPPHS-FA was on August 21st, 2025, the day before her friend Harika’s 17th birthday. She and her other friends surprised Harika with homemade pancakes covered in chocolate sauce (her friend’s favorite), along with gifts. Seeing her friend’s bright, happy face along with the others surrounding her was a beautiful scene that she will cherish as a part of her youth forever—not because of that moment in particular, but because of the people in that moment.

After graduation, she plans on moving abroad and continuing her studies until she earns at least a bachelor’s degree. Her advice to juniors at AUPPHS-FA: “Not just in high school, but in life, you will inevitably make mistakes and not know what to do, but that is okay because failing is just a step you have to take in order to succeed.”
