Senior Student Highlight: Sreang Chhenghouy

Sreang Chhenghouy (Academic Year 2025-2026) – Adrift, Tempting, beautiful

Favorite Quote: “Every experience has its place: 1/5 is exploring, 2/5 is committing, 3/5 is covering, 4/5 is enjoying, 5/5 is resetting. Don’t skip any stage — each one holds a surprise, and together they keep the momentum alive.”

An interesting fact about Chhenghouy is that she is from Ratanakiri, a province she describes as both beautiful and peaceful.

Her favorite subject is Khmer History because she enjoys learning about her culture, identity, and the stories that shaped where she comes from. Studying Khmer history has helped her understand the strength, resilience, and creativity of past generations. It has also made her feel more grounded and proud of her heritage, reminding her that history, like art, is a collection of experiences worth remembering and learning from.

The most challenging subject for Chhenghouy is Physics. While deriving equations may sound boring to some, she actually enjoys it. Once she understands the underlying concept, she finds the work manageable and rewarding. However, she dislikes multiple-choice questions because they often feel rushed and require careful time management, something she continues to work on. She also tends to overthink concepts, which can sometimes lead to mistakes and frustration. Although free-response questions can be more difficult, she prefers them because they allow her the time to slow down, focus, and fully explain her reasoning.

Outside of school, Chhenghouy enjoys expressing herself through a variety of creative outlets. She loves photography, graphic design, painting, dancing, and exploring different forms of art. She also enjoys solving problems, whether through Sudoku puzzles or everyday challenges. In addition, she participates in volleyball and football clubs, both of which she greatly enjoys. She is also interested in skateboarding, although she has not yet had many opportunities to skate at dedicated skateparks, something she hopes to experience in the future.

Chhenghouy considers herself both adventurous and observant. She enjoys exploring new places, noticing small details, and learning about the world around her. One of her long-term goals is to travel the world using money she has earned herself.

Her most memorable moments at AUPPHS-FA came from connecting with more people during her senior year. The energy and support of those around her made even the most difficult days feel lighter. As the year went on, she became more comfortable in her environment and more confident in sharing her ideas and perspectives. Although senior year was sometimes overwhelming and uncertain, it was also filled with meaningful experiences and unforgettable memories.

She would especially like to thank her two seatmates: Sokyou, her Grade 11 seatmate, and Nimol, her Grade 12 seatmate. They were the best companions she could have asked for. Their positive energy, shared laughter, and support made every day more enjoyable. They were people she could trust and confide in, and she is deeply grateful for the warmth, comfort, and friendship they brought into her life.

After graduating from AUPPHS-FA, Chhenghouy is not completely certain what comes next, but she plans to continue exploring, take things one step at a time, and prepare herself for whatever opportunities lie ahead. While senior year did not answer every question she had, it gave her growth, creativity, confidence, and curiosity and that is more than enough to keep her moving forward.

Her advice to juniors at AUPPHS-FA: “Life, to her, is about collecting experiences, learning from them, and enjoying the journey.”
