Senior Student Highlight: Vitian Sophea

Vitian Sophea (Academic Year 2025-2026) – WHAT WAS THAT

Favorite Quote: “Carpe diem. Seize the day, boys. Make your lives extraordinary.” -Mr Keating

An interesting fact about Vitian is that he enjoys spending as much time outdoors as possible, whether it is trying new activities or simply hanging out with friends and enjoying the fresh air.

His favorite subject is English because he has always enjoyed expressing his thoughts through writing. He finds it fascinating to analyze stories and see how different people interpret them in their own ways. The subject has also helped him become more confident in sharing his ideas. The most challenging subject for Vitian was Research Capstone because of its demanding nature. The high expectations and long-term commitment required for the project made it difficult to manage at times. He believes the subject that will prepare him most for life after high school is Research because it teaches critical thinking and problem-solving skills. It is not just about gathering information, it is about breaking down complex situations and working through them step by step.

Outside of school, Vitian competed in the World Robot Olympiad (WRO). He had the opportunity to travel to Turkey to represent both his school and Cambodia, and since it was his first international competition, the experience was both exciting and overwhelming. The following year, he competed again in Singapore, making it two consecutive years of participation. These experiences were especially meaningful to him because they challenged him to grow, allowed him to meet people from different countries, and helped him become more confident. His most memorable moments at AUPPHS-FA were spending time with his friends, attending school events together, and simply having fun in the hallways. While these moments may seem small, they are the memories that made his high school experience truly special. After graduating from AUPPHS-FA, Vitian plans to continue his studies in the United States. He also hopes to explore opportunities to work in different countries, gain international experience, and eventually start his own business. His advice to juniors at AUPPHS-FA: “Make the most of every moment. Go to every event you can, be involved, and don’t hold back. High school goes by really fast, and the little things you might overlook often become the memories you value the most later on.”
