Senior Student Highlight: Meyhoa Ly

Meyhoa Ly (Academic Year 2024-2025) – Chaotic, fleeting, memorable
Favorite Quote: It is the time you have wasted on your rose that makes your rose so important. -Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, The Little Prince

An interesting fact about Meyhoa is that she prefers timeless cartoons over reality TV shows. Her favorite subject at AUPPHS-FA was AP Biology. She found it fascinating because it reminded her that humans are not the only beings inhabiting Earth, and it allowed her to better understand the living creatures they share the planet with. The final Capstone project was her biggest challenge as a student, requiring her to think critically and meticulously through every step. Since the project relies heavily on independent research and design, it pushed her to develop strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

During her time at AUPPHS-FA, Meyhoa developed a hobby in debate and is currently a team member of a nonprofit organization. She also enjoyed volunteering in community service events during her free time. Her fondest memories are school field trips—especially visits to Phnom Penh Safari, the art gallery at Factory, and CoCo Farm. While the trips themselves were fun, she loved the laughter and bonding during the bus rides back most of all.

After graduation, she plans to pursue a major in the medical field at a university in Australia.

Her advice to juniors at AUPPHS-FA: “Everything is going to be new to you. We’re all teens trying to navigate the world around us. You may often feel uncomfortable or scared when faced with something you’re not used to, but if you can’t beat the fear, just do it scared. Eventually, you’ll find that everything becomes less scary.”
