Senior Student Highlight: Khaou Sisowath Duong Chan Darawatthey

Khaou Sisowath Duong Chan Darawatthey (Academic Year 2024-2025) – Hard Chaotic and Unforgettable
Favorite Quote: “Success consist of going from failure to failure without loss of enthusiasm.”

Some interesting facts about Darawatthey: she used to love doing things at the last minute—until she realized just how stressful (and unwise) that habit is. When stressed over Chemistry or Calculus, she finds relief in singing, which helps her clear her mind. Surprisingly, she hates ketchup but loves tomatoes, and she’s a big fan of Formula 1, especially during school breaks when she can truly relax.

She also loves to cook Western food during holidays like Christmas and New Year, usually taking charge of all the cooking. Discovering new recipes helps her unwind, even if cooking—and especially baking—can be challenging. Still, she enjoys every moment of it. Her other favorite hobbies? Shopping and online shopping. And one fun fact—she doesn’t like studying alone!

Her favorite topic at school is Research. Although it’s time-consuming, the deeper she dives into her topic, the more fascinated she becomes. In Grade 11, she loved Biology—especially with Mr. Muthu, who made class feel like a rollercoaster ride, in the best way. Of course, not everything came easy—Calculus has been her most challenging subject due to all the formulas and precision needed. It’s tough, but she knows it will be useful in the future.

Darawatthey believes AP Chemistry and AP Biology have prepared her most for life after high school, as she’ll be majoring in those subjects in university.

During her time at AUPPHS-FA, she participated in community service—including picking up trash along the riverside and volunteering for a charity marathon that raised money for children in need. She also joined similar activities in Grade 11.

Her favorite memory at AUPPHS-FA is from Grade 10, when she first joined and met all her classmates. Looking back at those early moments and realizing how far they’ve come makes her a little emotional, knowing graduation is just around the corner and everyone will soon go their separate ways.

After graduation, Darawatthey plans to take a short break before starting university. After 12 years of studying, she feels it’s time to breathe, enjoy life a little, and maybe travel abroad before diving back into academics. Her heartfelt advice to juniors: “Do not do your assignments, projects, presentations, homework’s at the last minutes because if you do you wouldn’t get a satisfying grades that you desire so for the juniors who’ll become seniors next year please do not do things last minutes.”
