Senior Student Highlight: Lychheng Nam

Lychheng Nam (Academic Year 2024-2025) – What the thinking.
Favorite Quote: “Whatever happens, just thug it out”

An interesting fact about Lychheng is that she enjoys music, crafting, and creative projects. She also loves doing community work and finding ways to use her creativity to help others. Whether it’s through art, design, or hands-on projects, she enjoys making things that carry meaning and have a positive impact.

She doesn’t have a specific favorite subject at school, but she found the Research Capstone Project to be the most challenging. The difficulty came from having to collect her own data, write a research paper, and present her findings. The project pushed her to think critically, manage her time, and communicate clearly—skills that were tough to master, but incredibly rewarding in the end.

Lychheng shared that Research Capstone has prepared her the most for life after high school by teaching her how to analyze information, think critically, and communicate effectively—skills valuable in any career. She also mentioned AP Microeconomics, which helped her understand how the economy works and how to make smart financial decisions—important tools for real life.

A truly passionate and creative soul, Lychheng loves crafting, sewing, and making things from scratch. She expresses herself through DIY projects and enjoys thrifting for unique finds. At one point, she even ran an online business selling handmade scrunchies—combining her love of fashion and creativity while learning entrepreneurship. She genuinely enjoys creating special items and sharing them with others.

Her fondest memories at AUPPHS-FA include falling down the stairs (yes, that happened!) and bonding with her friends.

After graduation, she plans to pursue her education in the United States. Her advice to juniors at AUPPHS-FA is simple but powerful:
“Don’t wait until the last minute to do things—don’t procrastinate.”
